Transport Planner

Role objectives

You will support and assist with a wide range of transport and land use planning tasks including: 

    • analysis for major transport planning studies 
    • preparation of visual outputs and mapping to support investigations
    • preparation of multi-modal transport projects and reports
  • Provide technical transport planning, analysis and GIS support to our growing Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning teams in a client-facing role
  • Apply sound knowledge of developments in the planning, transport and infrastructure sectors within Queensland
  • Be professional, dependable and have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Building and maintaining client and business relationships, contributing to bids and pursuing opportunities
  • Supporting the technical and commercial project delivery to exceed budget, quality, safety and timeframe expectations
  • Supporting the direction and technical advice within a project team, while contributing to a positive workplace culture aligned with our values
  • Engaging in professional development and industry networking to develop a strong professional profile and reputation
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, while identifying areas of improvement within the business

Qualifications, skills and experience

We’re looking for engaged, passionate and skilled problem solvers who appreciate a challenge and want to leave a positive impact – not just on our clients, but on our people too.

  • Degree in Planning, Engineering, Geography, Spatial Sciences or similar
  • 3-5 years’ experience including leading the development of planning, analytics or geospatial investigations and reports for the private or public sector
  • Capability to work within various spatial and graphic design platforms including:
    • ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, QGIS, Adobe Illustrator, Excel (essential)
    • FME, GeoJSON, Python, AutoCAD (desired)
  • Experience managing projects and delivering solutions within multi-disciplinary teams – applying technical knowledge and commercial acumen
  • Ability to deliver work to high technical standards in line with industry best practices
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, leadership and delegation skills
