Why is early engagement important in the development process?
Engaging planners early allows potential constraints and opportunities to be identified prior to purchasing a development site and before formal lodgement of a development application. This helps with understanding the development potential of a property and assists with aligning design, environmental and engineering inputs to meet council and state requirements.
PSA suggests early engagement with the Assessment Manager and Referral Agencies on complex developments or constrained sites to identify any key issues and technical assessments that may be required to support the development application.
How does PSA effectively manage the development application process?
PSA aims to resolve key issues with clients and regulatory authorities before formal submission of a complex DA by engaging early with Assessment Managers and Referral Agencies through a formal pre-lodgement meeting process. Coordinated technical inputs and proactive early management may reduce the need for costly redesigns or requests for further information from Assessment Managers and Referral Agencies within the Information Request Stage.
