Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer

Role objective

  • Provide leadership and technical traffic engineering advice to our growing Traffic and Transport Engineering team in a client-facing role
  • You will assist in developing new business opportunities and work on a wide range of projects including:
    – major transport infrastructure planning studies
    – traffic engineering investigations and reports
    – traffic engineering advice and services to private and public sector, including our Land Use Planning team
  • Apply sound knowledge of developments in the planning, transport and infrastructure sectors within Queensland.
  • Be professional, dependable and have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.


The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Building and maintaining client and business relationships, contributing to bids and pursuing opportunities.
  • Overseeing technical and commercial project delivery to exceed budget, quality, safety and timeframe expectations.
  • Providing direction and technical advice to the team – supporting them to achieve their potential while creating a positive workplace culture aligned with our values.
  • Engaging in professional development and industry networking to develop a strong professional profile and reputation.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, while identifying areas of improvement within the business.

Qualifications, skills and experience

We’re looking for engaged, passionate and skilled problem solvers who appreciate a challenge and want to leave a positive impact – not just on our clients, but on our people too.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional accreditation and registration (e.g. CPEng/RPEng & RPEQ) (preferable)
  • 4-10 years’ experience including leading the development of traffic engineering investigations and reports for the private or public sector.
  • Experience managing projects and delivering solutions within multi-disciplinary teams – applying technical knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to deliver work to high technical standards in line with industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, leadership and delegation skills.
